LG G6: The Bigger and Crazier

This post explains everything you need to know about the LG G6, price and where you can buy in Nigeria. Read more…

With the G5, LG came all out, betting it all and spilling out all the best they could muster. However, the tech giant’s latest flagship smartphone left quite a little to still be desired, with many people preferring to go for other competing and frankly, better phones. That means that to blow the competition away, LG will have to do considerably better with its next installment, which many believe will be called the G6. Oh, yeah it is.

Here are a few facts that we know of G6:

LG had confirmed that the G6 will have a 5.7-inch Quad HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels right before launch. It has an 18:9 aspect ratio, meaning it is more elongated than phones with the same aspect ratio. Recently, the company also announced that the screen will be less than 1mm thick. The display, which is likely OLED, will be 10 percent more visible in daylight and will use up 30% less battery life.

Regarding design, LG had announced that they will be reducing the bezel (the slope or bend around the corners and sides of a phone) of the G6 by 10% on the top and 20% on the sides. This represents a design evolution for the company as the major trend with smartphones in 2017 has been the gradual removal of the bezel altogether.

The LG G6 might not measure up to its counterparts in terms of processor endowment. It was rumored that the G6 is said to feature the Snapdragon 821 (the same processor as HTC’s U Ultra), while Samsung, the ubiquitous leading force in Android will have its next feature, the Galaxy s8, feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835.

The G6 has been confirmed to include the Google Assistant, a choice that was made over the Amazon Alexa. So far, only the Google Pixel and Pixel XL have the Google Assistant, making the G6 the first non-Google smartphone that will feature the assistant.

Following some payment reports, LG might include the iris scanner in its G6. LG Innotek, a subsidiary of LG, has showcases breakthroughs in the area and it is widely speculated that the G6 will feature this. It already has been confirmed to include the usual security innovations, including the new fingerprint scanner. An iris scanner will definitely be a welcome improvement. We’re not sure of this development…

Dimensions: 148.8 x 72.3 x 8.3mm OS: Android v7.0 Nougat Battery: removable Rear camera: dual-lens – Fingerprint scanner – Wireless charging – Headphone jack

LG G6 has been released since 26th of February and is now available for order in some regions. However, we expect the device to be available in Nigeria anytime from June 2017 and should cost about N240,000 – N300,000.
