Tecno Phantom 8 Full Specifications & Price in Nigeria

Tecno Phantom 8

| Tecno Phantom 8 |

When Tecno started the Phantom series, they sure as hell meant business. They’ve been quite determined to make all devices in this series seem like “figments of your imagination“ and their latest release is no different.

With its first launch on the 22nd of November in Dubai, the Phantom 8 has us wowed.  For reasons best known to them,  Tecno skipped from phantom 6, right to phantom 8. Omitting 7.

General Overview

Tecno Phantom 8 runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) – anything less would have been a sin – and has a HiOS interface slapped on top of it. There is also news about a soon-to-be-available upgrade to Android version 8.0 (Oreo). Till then!
Also, this device spots a 2.6 GHz Octa-core CPU of MediaTek MT6757CD — Helio P25 chipset. That sounds pretty cool huh?

But what are the Phantom 8’s selling points? I mean is there anything that makes the phantom 8 a must-get? Well maybe its 20 Megapixels front-facing camera to have you look like a god\goddess or its dual (13 Megapixels and 12 Megapixels ) back cameras. Or, no, maybe it’s massive 6GB RAM that has me drooling. Or say the 64 GB of Internal Storage, upgradeable to 2 TB enabling you store even your destiny on it *grins*

Phantom 8 Dual Camera

It is amazing really. The Phantom 8 is quite large, from my perspective (being a small-palmed person) as it boasts a 5.7-inch display. Tecno didn’t make use of their usual metallic build on this baby. Rather, they used a new design they’ve called “diamond fire design ”. Unfortunately, it is so glossy and attracts fingerprints like mud on white clothes. It would have been unbearably cumbersome if Tecno hadn’t added a case to the package. Of course, it also spots a fingerprint sensor, well placed at the back.

Tecno has chosen to double up on everything. They even included a dual hybrid SIM card slot which means you can only use two Micro Sim cards or one micro SIM card and one micro SD card. This particular feature breaks my heart, all the time. I really need to start an anti-hybrid SIM campaign. But that’s the one low light for me.

Tecno Phantom 8 Backview

The Phantom 8 has a battery capacity of 3500mAh. I expected higher but mehhh, you win some, you lose some. And it’s not a loss because due optimizations can still make this monster last about 5 days on standby.

Tecno Phantom 8 comes in 3 colors: Champagne Gold, Phantom Black and Galaxy Blue colors. The Galaxy Blue reminds me of the milky way and is pretty so I’d recommend it.

Before we go into the specifications, let’s check out what’s in the package.

Final Notes

That pretty much wraps up this review of the phone that is almost only a figment of our imaginations. There are rumors about a supposed phantom 8 Plus. So far, no nothing yet. Our fingers are crossed. [Dear God, let the 8plus ditch hybrid SIM (amen)]. Neither the rumor, nor my prayer is very likely but we can still hope.

What do you think about the Phantom 8? Does it seem like a figment of your imagination, or just an attempt to create an iPhone look-alike?
