| LG K8 |
After releasing a version of the LG K8 in 2016, LG is back with another new and improved version. Both phones are budget phones, and delightfully so. Most of us are pleased about not having to sell our kidneys to own such capable devices.
Released in 2017, this new version has some extremely loveable features. For starters, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat which is an upgrade considering that the 2017 version was stuck on 6.0 Marshmallow.
There is quite a difference between the LG K8(2017) and the LG K8(2016). The major differences come in form of:
|SPECIFICATIONS||LG K8 (2016||LG K8 (2017)|
|BATTERY CAPACITY (mAh)||2125||2500|
|ROM||8 GB||16 GB|
|PROCESSOR||Quad-core Mediatek MT6735 @ 1.3 GHz||Quad-core Snapdragon 425 @ 1.4 GHz|
The K8 is not a big phone. At only 5.0 inches, it is perfect for small-phone-lovers. One major big deal about the K8 is that it’s beautiful. It spots a plastic hand-woven cover. It’s definitely pleasing to the eye. It gets you thinking that the K8 was sculptured just for your hands. In addition to its plastic cover, the LG K8 (2017) is armed with corning gorilla glass. It’s not a fragile beauty. The resolution, however, is basic at just 720*1280 pixels. But who are we kidding, this is a budget device so… it’s very fine, sorry.
The LG K8 runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. With a RAM of 1.5GB, multitasking could go smoothly, provided you don’t overdo it. The internal memory fits right in; 16 GB upgradeable to32 via SD card. I’m also pleased to announce that the K8 does not practice the common evil of hybrid SIM. Yes! Down with the rain of terror. This particular feature has got me on cloud ten. In essence, your memory card gets to stay if you get this device.
LG propped this baby up a little further with what they call enhanced convenience. Apparently, you can control notifications and alerts. You can choose to receive some, all, or those from contacts from a specific priority list. Finally, we can say “I didn’t get your text” without lying. And that’s just one among others. One other thing that excites me is this device’s ability to let you create a 3-to-8-point tapping pattern for security and direct access to the home screen with over 86,000 possible combinations.
Moving on, the battery power is not a turn-off. At 2500mAh, the LG K8 (2017) lasts on standby for 14 days and 21 hours, and on talk time for 12 hours and 30 minutes (that’s if you have enough airtime *grins*). The K8 runs on 4G network, yay! Go get that 4G SIM pack.
The camera of the K8 is definitely not a professional one. Admittedly, they could have done better, but this is what we have; 8 megapixels for the rear camera (complete with gesture shot, auto shot, and burst shot). The front camera measures 5 megapixels with an efficient selfie shot.
Gives you mixed feelings, right?
