Buying airtime to your mobile phone through your local bank account is now the order of the day in Nigeria. There’s no need visiting the next street before you get to recharge your mobile phone anymore! Thanks to GTBank and others like First Bank for the great new feature to help boost wireless transactions.
GTBank customers can easily purchase airtime from N50 and above using the USSD code *737# provided the number that is requesting the service is the one connected to the GTBank account – say the one you use to receive transaction alerts. That’s simple!
BUYING AIRTIME FOR OTHERS USING GTBANK USSD SERVICE
Need to buy airtime for a friend remotely? GTBank makes this easy as well. Simply dial *737*Amount*PhoneNumber#
On the next screen, you will be asked to choose the network of the destination number. Select the appropriate digit for that and press OK/SEND. Also, you will be asked to enter the last four digits of your ATM Card for security reasons. Once this is confirmed, your friend should receive a Virtual top-up (VTU) alert in a few seconds depending on the traffic along the channel. You can also use this method to recharge your other lines that are not connected to GTBank.
Note that the exact amount you’re recharging with will be dedicated from your bank account and you cannot purchase airtime less than N50.
If you or your friend do not get the VTU alert and your phone’s account does not get credited, you should wait for 1-2 working days for your Bank Account to be reimbursed.
