Gionee P8 Max Full Specifications & Price in Nigeria

Released this year, Gionee P8 Max is the successor of last year’s Gionee P7 Max. Both phones have a lot of similarities. For example, both devices have screens of 5.5” display as well as a 720*1280 pixels display. They also run on 3GB RAM, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Amigo 3.2 UI slapped ontop.

Both phones have cameras similar in pixel-count too. So, one could say that some of the main differences lie in size. The P7 Max measures 147.1 x 73.76 x 8.3 mm, while the P8 measures 155.2 x 77.6 x 10.78mm, making the P8 obviously bigger. I9n terms of weight, the P8 is heavier weighing 258g, while P7 weighs 156g. This is perhaps because there’s a slight increase in battery capacity.

General Overview

When it comes to screen display, the Gionee P8 Max has a 5.5 inch HD IPS display, accompanied by a 2.5D curved display. The IPS display technology makes pictures more vivid and gives you a wider display angle. On the P8 Max, you get up to 178 degrees visual angle. However, I am a bit disappointed by the resolution. This device has a resolution of 720*1280 pixels, giving it a 267 pixel-per-inch density due to the fact that the P8 Max is a 5.5” device. It could be better if you asked me.

The P8 Max has an enviable design. The back cover is formed by hot pressing, giving us a 3D back-arch. The result is a shiny halo on the device’s back. Due to this design, the plastic design doesn’t hurt much. It’s also durable, owing to the Corning Gorilla glass

Some other attractive features include the fact that the Gionee P8 supports 4G network and USB on-the-go charging.

One nice feature is that the P8 helps to ‘conquer the dark’ with a screen flash that helps you cope in various light situations. It automatically turns to flash in low light, brightening up the darkness. This brings us to the P8 Max’s camera. The rear camera measures 13 megapixels and a selfie camera of 8 megapixels. Combined with the screen flash, the P8 Max enables you to slay in those pictures.

There’s also an upgrade from the P7 Max’s 3100 mAh, to 3150mAh for the P8 Max. Not much? It’s still good though, especially when you consider the fact that it gives up to 290 hours of standby time. The P8 Max also has fast charge. Yay!

Also, on the ‘nay’ side, the P8 Max does not have an iris or fingerprint scanner. I expected one but got none, so go ahead and think-up those monster patterns. You’re going to need them. You can console yourself by reminding yourself that it’s a mid-range budget phone, hence the few downsides

The P8 is available in gold, grey, and white.

Alas, Gionee P8 MAX is also in support of hybrid SIM. You can guess my reaction. LIKE WHY?????

I guess it was expected, though.

Enough tears. Sigh…

Gionee P8 Max

Price & Availability

Unfortunately, the Gionee P8 Max has not shown itself on the Nigerian soil yet but when it does, we expect it to be pegged somewhere between N50,000 and N70,000. Till then!

Final Notes

The Gionee P8 Max is a nice device. I, for one, feel that it’s not much of an upgrade from the P7 Max though. But notwithstanding, being a mid-range device, it should be a good pick for its price. What do you think?
